    • Garritt Audas was educated in the common schools and until he was eighteen years old assisted in the conduct of his father's farm, also learning the carpenter's trade. [3]
    • Later, he worked as a carpenter and boat builder in [Cleveland] and built many boats for the Erie Canal. When the Ontario & Western railroad was built he engaged in the business of contracting to construct bridges and built most of the bridges in this section as well as many on the Auburn Branch. [3]

    • G. Audas has purchased Thomson's undertaking establishment at Oneida, and taken possession. He intends to personally superintend the business just purchased, and his son will carry on the one here. In Mr. Audas, Oneida has secured a courteous, capable and upright citizen, one who will give to all his patrons the utmost sanctification. [8]
    • In May, 1883, Mr. Audas purchased the undertaking business of W.R. Thompson in Oneida where he has since resided. For a time he was the only undertaker in town and by virtue of his long establishment he is well known in this vicinity. [3]
