    • The first newspaper published in the town was the Lakeside News, which was started at Cleveland village by Alvaro F. Goodenough in 1871. He soon changed it to the New Era, and in the spring of 1873 it passed to Charles R. King, the present editor and proprietor, who changed the name to the Lakeside Press, which it still bears. [4]
