    • Young Johnny Shindler thought he would have a little fun yesterday forenoon by letting loose some loaded coal cars on the switch at Getman's factory, but an unexpected result followed. The cars started off, gathering force as they went down the heavy grade, and with a rush they jumped the track just above the blacksmith shop, tearing up and smashing things generally and scattering the coal in all directions. it is thought the damage will be $150 - This morning, after much effort, the care were got on the track again. [2]
    • The little Shindler boy, who unintentionally caused the accident to the coal cars on Getman's switch, last Friday, was brutally whipped and pounded by his parents when they got him inside the house; and great indignation was manifested by many of our people when they learned of the outrage. The lad was probably no worse than hundreds of other boys of his age, any of whom would most likely have done the same thing he did, without any intent of committing any set of real harm or damage. We learn that the boy was yesterday taken by his father to Buffalo, either to place him in some institution or with relatives. [3]
    • Little Johnny Shindler, the lad who accidentally caused the mishap on Getman's switch, several weeks ago, for which he was shamefully whipped and then sent to relatives at Buffalo, was brought home again Monday by his mother, the report being that he was sick. [4]
